The scientific principles in psychology include

a) scientific attitude
b) collection of evidence
c) Two approaches to understanding the behavior
d) Making the definition and measure behavior


Scientific Attitude consists of:
  • curiosity 
  • skepticism 
  • open-mindedness
Collection of evidence as a stage in the scientific process.

stages of scientific
process include:
  1. observation 
  2. collecting evidence and making hypotheses 
  3. test the hypothesis (research) 
  4. Analysis of the data and make conclusions while 
  5. Reported the discovery to the scientific community 
  6. Future research and theory building 
  7. New hypothesis (the basis of the theory are made for next research).
 Two approaches to understanding the behavior
  • Hindsight 
  • comprehension through prediction, control and theory building
Measurement techniques of psychology.
  • Self report and report by others ( interviews, questionnaires)
  • Observation of behavior 
  • psychological tests (personality tests, IQ, performance, etc.) 
  • psychological measurement
